Week 9 #23 Summary

I did learn about some interesting things on this journey.
I did not know what wikis, pods, etc were.

This program has highlighted the fact that I do not do well with self-learning.

I do much better with classroom structure and a teacher.

I was not really surprised to find out that I am definitely technologically challenged.

I would learn this better with a teacher.

I did not choose to participate this time. I felt forced to do it.

If I really wanted an MP3 player , I would have purchased my own. I am not going to know what to do with it anyway.

My learning experience was frustrating to say the least. I was often in tears or close to it.
I do not have the time to spend hours everyday on the computer. I do not have the desire to spend my time there.

I want to read actual books that I hold in my hand, curled up in a comfy chair or laying in bed or best yet, out on my deck swing.

I enjoy the outdoors. I have enough trouble keeping up with all the junk e-mail I get everyday.

I love the computer for e-mail, chatting, shopping, searching.

I do not want to read lots of RSS feeds everyday. I do not have time that I want to spend reading other peoples blogs, etc.

I have definitely learned that all this technology is not for me.

I would like to know how to use my digital camera and how to share pictures by e-mail.

Whenever I read the directions and follow through on something, I cannot do it again. I have not really learned it.

I need to be shown, then talked through it and have to do it a few times to really learn it.

I must say, I am glad this experience is over.

Week 9 #22 audiobooks

I was able to sign up for Net Library.

I downloaded the book "I Lost Everything in the Post-Natal Depression" by Erma Bombeck.

When I first downloaded it, I could play it.

When I go back to it, I don't know how to play it. I can only download it again.

I wanted to download it to a CD but can not seem to figure out how to do that.

This is all very, very discouraging to me.

I feel totally stupid.

I don't understand why I have to go through this.

Week 9 #21 Podcasts

I looked at some podcasts and some of them are neat. there sure are alot of them out there.

I dont understand how to get the rss feed for it on my blog page.

Things that I dont know how to do frustrate me.

I also keep losing the pages I need. then I have to start over.

Some of the podcasts I was interested in, I couldnt get to play.

I do not like the computer world.

I liked the childrens book radio and subscribed to it but do not know how to put the rss feed on my blog page.

Week 9 #20 You Tube

I liked many of the videos on You Tube.

I like the McDonalds commercials and I like the pets & animals.

I was not able to view alot of them. I couldn't figure out the problem but they wouldn't play. the screen stayed black with a circle moving around. The ones that did play started right away.

I viewed a McDonalds one once and then couldn't get it to play again.

I think I have an aura that is against technology. I have incredible, unusual problems when I am dealing with computers.

I tried to put a You tube video on my blogger. It said it would be there. so far, I haven't seen it there but who knows. Maybe it still is coming. We can only hope.

Sandbox wikis

I did leave an entry on the sandbox wikis about my favorite breed of dogs.

I did enter my blog there.

Week 8 #19

From the Web 2.0 awards list, I explored Biblio.com.

It is a site for searching for used books, rare books and out-of-print books.

When you buy books from them you are supporting literacy and education.

They have used portions of their profits to help build 7 community libraries in south america.

I searched for the used book, Carbonel by Barbara Sleigh.

This book is not as hard to find or as expensive since it has been recently re-published.

Many of the books are from the UK but they have converted the money to U.S. dollars.

I like the site. It is fun to search for books. Anything related to books is applicable for a library setting.

Week 8, #18 Online tools

I signed up for Zoho and typed a document.

I will try to move it here if I can figure out how. This is it as follows. I moved it from Zoho to Microsoft word and then cut and pasted it here.

I am using this online word processing software.

It does not seem much different then other word processing.

It is cool that you can get it free online.

Week 7 #16 Wikis

Wikis are useful for many things such as book reviews, sharing community events and info such as best mechanic, restaurants, etc.

In wikis the information is edited, changed rewritten. It is collaborative writing, pooling knowledge, exchanging ideas.

It is good for something where the subject changes or needs frequent updating.

Wikis are good for library staff for policies, information, projects, conferences, innovative things and collective knowledge of the library community.

Library sucess wiki http://www.libsuccess.org

the content is collaboratively developed and web editing is easy. Internally we can share info among librarians and externally we can share online with the community.

The largest wiki is wikipedia. the first wiki was wikiwikiweb.
